HMS undertook a £1.3m refurbishment of Shallcross Court, which consists of three blocks of self-contained flats for people who are 55 and over.
This 12 months project gave a new modern look to Shallcross Court, which was originally built as ‘general needs’ flats but was converted to sheltered accommodation in the 1980s. Over the years Shallcross Court became outdated but now the scheme has a new modern exterior, an attractive shared garden, communal lounge, laundry, hair salon and a new pedestrian access route, which makes it easier for residents to go to nearby shops and use local services.
HMS refurbished 3 blocks of self-contained flats and undertook extension work to rebuild a new communal lounge for tenants, a new one bedroom property and link corridors. Other works included new windows, front doors, and major environmental improvements to the gardens.
The Mechanical and Electrical works at Shallcross Court were carried out in house. Due to the nature of the works required other work was sub contracted for specialist trades.
Customer care was paramount throughout the refurbishment and our Customer Liaison Officer was on site to offer information and answer any questions. Each week tenants were notified of the work that was to be carried out by hand posted letters and with daily updates on a notice board on site.
