The first of this year's two LMH Picnic in the Park events took place on Saturday 11 May at the Clubmoor recreation ground.
Although the day started off windy and rainy, the weather improved sufficiently for everyone to enjoy the many free activities on offer.
The HMS Try a Trade stand was busy all day with the 'timed' plumbing competition proving very popular. New to the HMS stand this year was a colouring competition which also drew steady numbers.
Hopefully the weather will improve for the next event which is being held on Saturday 18 May at Sefton Park.
The winners of the timed plumbing competition and the colouring competition will be announced shortly.
Housing Maintenance Solutions (HMS) is proud to have been awarded International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) accreditation for three key areas of its work.
HMS, in-house contractor to Liverpool Mutual Homes (LMH), has received these three coveted international accreditations, alongside LMH.
After passing extensive scrutiny with flying colours, both HMS and LMH now hold ISO 9001 for Quality Management; ISO 14001 for Environmental Management; and OHSAS 18001 for Health and Safety Management.
The awards reiterate HMS’s commitment to delivering the highest quality services and creating a workplace that actively encourages staff improvement and development so tenants benefit from improved performance.
LMH Director of Corporate Services, Peter Fieldsend, said:
"It is a fantastic achievement to receive three ISO accreditations and another great boost to our fifth birthday celebrations. I would like to pay tribute to all staff members for their hard work.
"There has been a huge undertaking from all staff at LMH and HMS that involved great dedication, commitment and no shortage of skill.
"The final element of the process saw four auditors looking at our work in fine detail over two days to make sure we meet international standards.
"It was particularly pleasing to hear we passed flawlessly which is great testimony to staff and they should be very proud of this achievement, just as I am."
ISO accreditation ensures products and services are safe, reliable and of good quality. For business, they are strategic tools that reduce costs by minimising waste and errors, and increasing productivity. They help companies to access new markets, level the playing field for developing countries and facilitate free and fair global trade.
A pregnant Liverpool mum today thanked two contractors who rescued her family from a house fire in Anfield.
As the alarm was raised at 8.50am on Thursday, a neighbour was throwing water onto the flames from the front door when maintenance workers Les Moy, 41, and Danny Knight, 22 (from Atlas Building Company, a contractor for HMS and LMH) drove past in their van. They pulled over and ran into the house to rescue Rachel and her children.
